The thing I like best about vector, especially in comparison to alloy and AxoSyslog is the great documentation and getting started guide. This made a big difference in actually understanding the config, and working with a syslog stub generator to actually see whats going on instead of having a long feedback loop where you first configure the collector and then have to generate logs from somewhere.
