The long battery life of e-ink wearable devices and always on screens have always been important features to me, which have disqualified popular ewatches such as the apple watch and google pixel watch.
The pebble watches were also unique in their kind by offering an interesting accessible development method using the companion app on the phone to run javascript, and using remotely configurable app views on the watch device. This alleviates a lot of low level programming and made it really easy to develop apps for the pebble watch
In 2026, Pebble’s Eric introduces the Pebble Index 01, a bluetooth ring with microphone designed to capture fleeting thoughts without grabbing your phone. While I understand the lashback at the disposable battery and ewaste, as an Personal Knowledge Management enthusiast, I do have to try out this way of closing the gap between thoughts and notes
